Holiday crowds aren't all bad

Hayes Valley Block Party, Dec. 5
The renowned design shops of Hayes Street keep their doors open late into the evening for this annual event, serving up drinks, snacks, and live music right alongside their cutting edge art, fashion, and jewelry. Through Dec. 15, the merchants are hosting a book drive for Back On Track, a volunteer tutoring program based in the Western Edition. Bring an old book to contribute, buy some fabulous gifts and party with the natives.
