[whitespace] The Kuchar brothers' retrospective is part of the National Queer Arts Festival. Below are other festival highlights:

Tue., June 1, 7pm, in the Forum of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, $15: "An Evening of Poetry: Adrienne Rich & Mark Wunderlich" in which the authors will read selections from their respective works.

Thu., June 3-25, SomArts, 934 Brannan St., suggested donation $5-10: "They Hold Up Half the Sky" celebrates the work of lesbian and gay Asian American women and is composed of a retrospective of Chinese-American artist Bernice Bing and the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Asian American Artists Association.

Sun., June 6, 7pm, 4235 19th St., (Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy): National Book Award finalist Dorothy Allison will read from both her acclaimed Bastard Out of Carolina and her second novel, Cavedweller.

Tue., June 8, The Stud (corner of Ninth and Harrison), $5: "Trannyshack Retrospective" looks back at three years of groundbreaking gender-bending cabaret.

Thu., June 10, 7pm, 4235 19th St. (Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy): "Queers Stand Up: Then and Now" with performances from local comic luminaries Tom Ammiano, Marga Gomez, Karen Williams and Maureen Brownsey.
