[whitespace] How to get your art seen by the masses

By Christine Brenneman

Dave Muller, the mastermind behind San Francisco's "Life in Space" Three Day Weekend art event, is an anti-establishment purist. So if you're thinking that you'd like your fine artwork included in the next Three Day Weekend event, you may have to resort to highly unorthodox measures to accomplish that goal. First and foremost, do not, under any circumstances, ask Muller to take a look at slides of your work! You will swiftly be told that he does not participate in such staid vestiges of the art institution. Throw off anything you've been told about selling your soul for artistic success. With Muller's pure spirit, your best bet lies in showing up at the opening, having a few beers and coolly befriending this intense man. Remember, Muller's more interested in who you are, what makes you tick and the practice of your work than in your commercial value or salability. Obviously, this is a weird concept to swallow in the cold world of art, so readjust your paradigm and go for it.
